Portraits generally take between 6 months to 1 year to complete. Prices include initial photo session and meeting, as well as delivery of the portrait. It does not include framing. Additional costs may incur for travel over 50 miles, additional photo sessions or meetings, changes after approval, and rush charges.
Commissioning a portrait takes time but is an easy process for the client. It starts with an initial e-mail or phone discussion. If we decide to proceed, I will schedule a photo shoot with the subject or, in some cases, I will review your existing photos. I will send you a detailed invoice; a 50% deposit is due at this time. I will create a sketch and small color study for you before the full-sized portrait is started. That's it! The rest of the time is spent patiently waiting for the artwork to be finished, approximately 3-6 months
When I ship artwork, each piece is packed with the utmost care and is insured. Framed artworks are shipped by UPS or FedEx. Smaller, matted (but not framed) artworks are often shipped and insured by USPS.

If, however, damage occurs, please contact me right away and send a detailed photo showing the packaging and the art. The images sent will enable me to determine if the art can be fixed, replaced or returned.
