"Belladonna” is from a series of botanicals exploring the fascinating duality of poisonous/medicinal plants.
Belladona is one of the most famous toxic plants, having a long history of medicinal, murderous, and cosmetic uses. It has been used throughout history as a poison.
The name, Belladonna, means beautiful lady and comes from its use by women in the Victorian era to dilate their pupils, a sign of beauty at the time. However, extended use often caused blindness. Some medicinal uses of Belladonna include treatments for motion sickness, stomach ulcers, excessive nighttime urination, and pink eye.
