"Tend to The Garden of Your Mind" was inspired by the Buddhist teaching of Right Speech. The woman surrounded by the snake brings forth the concept of having agency over oneself and one’s words. At first glance, the figure appears to be enveloped by the huge creature, yet she seems in control of both of them as she holds its head in a symbol of defiance and strength. The arch of branches surrounding the painting evokes scary childhood fairytale forests with the promise of something soothing and safe beyond.

"Tend to The Garden of Your Mind" is from the series, “Untangling Our Roots”, which explores the evolution from childhood beliefs and cultural influences to developing a unique path and voice as an adult. Each painting in the series addresses a different universal struggle and is infused with a solitary figure, enigmatic nature as a healing and guiding force, and/or spiritual and cultural symbolism. This series strives to embody mystery, beauty, exploration, and discovery.
