"Transfiguration" was inspired by a Buddhist teaching of Right Effort. The figure, strong and confident, is balancing between an old world order and the freedom and expansiveness of a new path. This piece could be interpreted as an allegory for personal transformation, the shedding of old ideas, and the embrace of change. The use of a cool palette interspersed with warm tones accentuates the sense of emerging into a new state of being.

"Transfiguration" is from the series, “Untangling Our Roots”, which explores the evolution from childhood beliefs and cultural influences to developing a unique path and voice as an adult. Each painting in the series addresses a different universal struggle and is infused with a solitary figure, enigmatic nature as a healing and guiding force, and/or spiritual and cultural symbolism. This series strives to embody mystery, beauty, exploration, and discovery.
